Use a channel to chat about a specific task or project. Unlike a direct chat, you can add members to a channel after it starts and when necessary members can leave.
Channels can be separate or part of a track. Every track that you create has a chat channel.
Your chat menu contains all of the channels that you are a member of.
Starting a chat channel
To start a chat:
- From your menu, click Chat:
- Click Start chat.
- Click Channels.
- Click Start a new channel.
- Provide a Name and Description for your channel.
- Provide the email addresses of the participants to include in your chat.
- To hide this channel from other people, click Make this track private .
Anyone in your organization can find and join public channels. - Click Start.

Adding people to a channel
To add a participant to a separate channel:
- Open your chat channel.
- Click the member button(
)
- Click Add member (
).
- Enter the user’s email address.
Adding a track to an existing channel
If you already have a chat channel, you can start a track that includes your chat channel.
To add a track to an existing channel:
- Open your chat channel.
- Click the track button (
).
- Confirm you want to create a track.
Visiting the track of a chat channel
From the chat menu, to open the track of a chat channel, click the track button ().
Starting a meeting from a channel
To start a meeting from a chat channel:
- Open the chat channel.
- Click the meeting button (
).
- Your meeting starts.
As a channel member, to you the meeting click Join meeting.
Leaving a channel
If the channel is part of a track, you have to leave the track—See: Leaving a track.
If your channel is separate, to leave the channel:
- Open your chat channel.
- Click the member button(
).
- Click Leave the channel (
).
